Ambient Post-Djent quartet
Our name ICHIRO is loosely translated from the Japanese for “first bright”, or “new beginning”. We wanted this band to represent something new in all of our lives but also in the world of music.
Musically, we cannot fully describe the context of our influences or what we sound like; we are each influenced by very diverse genres of music, which in turn colours our music in a unique way. One of our goals as a band has always been to combine multiple contrasting genres into an audience-friendly format; the result is the music which we present to you here.
If we were to try and compare ourselves to other bands, the likes of Karnivool, TesseracT, Opeth, Soen, Toska, Periphery, Valis Ablaze, Rishloo, Tool, Portishead, Alien Ant Farm, Incubus, Nevermore, Arctic Monkeys, Deftones and many other great performers would come to mind. Upon the band’s inception, we were well-known for the cover songs we would perform, though we now almost exclusively focus on our own material which we are in the process of recording for distribution online.
Winners of Horsham Battle of The Bands 2016 “Peoples’ Choice” award and taking a firm second place in the covers performance category, you are destined to experience a rock band unlike any other on Earth. Each of our songs speaks of a different calamity in our collective lives, and you are about to witness a special kind of intoxication upon listening, which lead to some giving us the term “Black Magic Rock”…
